Birth is a sacred journey and Dawn is here to hold that sacred space with you and for you. She/they will supply you with information on the various aspects and details of labor and birth so that you are able to make the very best decisions for you and your baby no matter what challenges you may face during the journey.
As a birth and bereavement doula, Dawn accompanies pregnant persons in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. They/she has completed training approved by DONA International, and is working towards certification with Stillbirthday as well as DONA. They/she draws from their/her professional trainings, knowledge, and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort, and, as needed, communication with the staff to make sure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. Dawn can provide reassurance, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. Dawn is independent and self-employed. As your full spectrum doula, they/she works for you, not your caregiver or hospital.
As a Doula, Dawn does not perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and others. They/she is there to provide only emotional support and physical comfort. They/she does not make decisions for you. They/she will help you to get the information necessary to make an informed decision. They/she will also remind you if there is a departure from your intended birth plan. Dawn does not speak to staff on your behalf. She/they will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak directly to the clinical staff. They/she does not guarantee a birth outcome. She/they will support you, answer your questions, and be there throughout your labor and birth (unless hospital personnel or your caregiver and you state otherwise) but Dawn will not guarantee an outcome such as, a vaginal birth, an unmedicated birth, or any other potential outcome.
Dawn is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and Ordained Interfaith/Interspiritual Minister. Perinatal Massage Sessions, ceremonies/blessings/memorials can be added for an additional cost.
